The Dawn of a New Era

2amayakinderApparently, when someone gets old enough to be in Kindergarten, they suddenly know how to model.

I swear I didn’t ask her to pose at all. 1amayakinder

She started school this week, and time feels like I’m trying to pick out the scenery when I’m sitting in a convertible with the top down at 80 mph.

Oh well, I guess I can enjoy the wind in my hair. 3amayakinder

Amaya asked me to make her pancakes, after I was on that wretched diet.

I dropped in some freeze dried strawberry pieces (especially the little powdery pieces at the bottom of the bag that aren’t good for snacking) and chocolate chips. 1buckwheatpancakes

She said, “Oh! It’s like we can have a real breakfast again! We haven’t had a real breakfast in a LOoooooooNG time!” 2buckwheatpancakes5buckwheatpancakes

Three weeks is eternity to a 5 year old. 5 years is a blink of the eye to a 30 year old. Now that is a cosmic joke. 4buckwheatpancakes

I cannot believe Amaya is a kindergartener. That is so crazy. She looks so cute in her school clothes.

I love your post. It is so true: time does move differently depending on ones age! Amaya is adorable. I can't believe it's already time to send our FIVE year olds to school! Matthew is off to school next week. My mind can hardly wrap around that fact. I hope you were also enjoyed some of Amaya's "Real Breakfast"!

Awwww, so sweet. I don't think I ever fixed my son a "real breakfast". Too late now . . . he's 30 years old. Truly, the time just flew by.

It blows my mind that she is in kindergarten and that she is now of posing age! What a big girl. I will always remember our visit with you guys. She was in diapers, babbling in her sweet toddler talk and wooing us with her cuteness. I love watching her grow up through your blog. It makes me really proud of her and you!

I hope it went well. She certainly looks like a school aged kid in those pictures. And excited. I had no idea she was looking forward to it. So exciting. And strange to be at this point, huh.

Hi! I hopped over from Just One Cookbook. Your daughter is a cutie! I lived in Hawaii when I was little... Laie and Kahala. So I look forward to browsing your island-inspired recipes!

Classic. Gwyn is a totally different person in school, and I think I was as well. So you might have to ask her teacher about it. I'd be curious.

Your daughter is SUPER cute! Mine is going to Kinder in 2 weeks too. I'm not sure if he's ready. I really hope he'll be okay. I love her smile at the table... :-)

Great pancake breakfast!

Btw I got my tapioca pearls from the Chinese supermarket. I think they are green because they are flavoured with pandan
